A prompt to try
Help me prepare for this conversation: [SITUATION]. My observations: [SPECIFIC EVENTS]. What I want to address: [CONCERN]. My boundaries: [BOUNDARIES]. Relationship and context: [CONTEXT]. First separate observable events from my interpretation. Suggest two possible perspectives the other person might have, explicitly labeling them as hypotheses, and ask me for missing context. Draft an opening with an observation, its effect on me and a specific request. Check whether the request can be declined or negotiated without giving up my boundary. After I confirm, role-play three rounds as the other person: cooperative, skeptical and evasive. Wait for my reply each time. Afterwards, give feedback on clarity, respect, the specificity of my request and whether I maintained my boundaries. Support it with short excerpts from my response. End the rehearsal with improved wording and a way to exit the conversation. Do not diagnose the other person or suggest covert manipulation.
