Try your dream life before changing everything
A different job, more freedom or a new hobby? Explore three small everyday experiments to see whether the idea really fits you.

A prompt to try
Help me try out a change without hastily turning my life upside down. Start by asking: what change appeals to me, and what am I hoping to gain from it? Then clarify, one question at a time, the real desire behind the idea, my available time and my boundaries. Distinguish an imagined ideal from testable assumptions. Develop three small two-week experiments, as reversible as possible, that test different assumptions. For each, give a concrete process, limited time commitment, what I expect beforehand, what I can observe and when I should stop. Do not propose quitting a job, taking on debt or ending important relationships as an experiment. Finally, compare the wish with everyday reality: what would I need to experience to change my mind? Do not predict my happiness or invent a personality profile.
